GloucesterGLOUCESTER COUNTY COUNCIL

Marco, the UK’s largest manufacturer of Steel Wire Cable Tray, and uPVC Cable Management Company, has supplied its’ products at Gloucester County Council’s new state-of-the-art office development.

The eco-friendly office complex in ate, Bristol, is being built upon a derelict brownfield site and has a range of sustainable, enegy saving features that form a major part of the wider design. Mid-Glamorgan-based, E.J. Honeybun Ltd, is the electrical contractor for the scheme appointed by the main contractor, Kier Group.

The Marco Steel Wire Cable Tray is being installed across three floors of the building, with its many benefits being utilised by the electrical contractors. Supplied by a local Bristol-based distributor, the UK manufactured product has been delivered directly to site throughout the contract period.

Amongst the energy saving initiatives specified for the new Council headquarters are lighting control systems, water saving measures and solar collectors for the hot water supply. Rainwater will be collected for the flushing of toilets and the main heating system will be a woodchip biomass boiler with a natural gas back-up boiler. Architects have been asked to include carbon dioxide reducing measures and it is also planned to have a wind turbine on site.

Steve Davis, Business Development Manager at Marco Cable Management said: “This is a highly energy efficient development and geat thought and attention has been given to the right specification in all aeas of this scheme.”

“The use of Steel Wire Cable Tray, a light weight flexible system that can be fabricated on site, makes installation quick and convenient and offers a time and labour saving solution for the electrical contractor. This simple but effective approach falls in line with the overall ethos of this development in terms of efficient working practices and product specification."
